  10. Hey Mike, I didn`t say that I was overwhelmed, it just appeared that maybe
  11. you thought that you could overwhelm some of the people. I`m not shy , if I
  12. don`t know of a certain world it doesn`t bother me to look it up. At the same
  13. time I do know that some people do have complex`s about their make up and will
  14. do what they can to divert others away, to mask what they are lacking.

  37. settling dust of Summer.  In reaching for a flower, Jacob was

  47. Deception is assumed, when fanciful claims are made, because the
  48. burden of proof is upon those who make them.  But there are those
  49. who shall always believe, cling with tenacity to the flickering
  50. light at Summer's end.  Because they believe, they want others to
  51. believe, imputing the skeptic with heresy.  Their cries languish,
  52. their visions evanesce.  The flowering of faith withers in their
  53. passing, leaving the cold root of reason to sprout anew.

  69. thousands of families.  It is burned into the earth by mass
  70. graves that are still being found.  Hundreds of thousands of feet
  71. of film, not imbued with imaginative life by a belief that it
  72. must be 'hidden somewhere.' are available to anyone with the
  73. stomach to watch.  They are clear and evident and come from a
  74. time that had little ability to alter their testimony, you can
  75. date the celluloid.  There is no comparison.

  77. Within the scope of this argument, I suggest that hysteria is
  78. possible on the scale implied, over the area implied, in the time
  79. implied.  There is always something going on.  The rajneesh eats

  91. Really don't have time to get into this with you, but your figures don't
  92. tell the whole story. (Assuming their correct in the first place). Since
  93. the beginning of time, there may have been 10 to the 64 different per-
  94. mutations occuring, making the chances against such proteins NOT evolving
  95. approximately 10 to 1. I don't stand behind my figures, but I'd be willing
  96. to bet they are conservative.

  98. Its like saying that the chances against four people playing bridge being
  99. dealt hands that consisted of A-K in each suit. The odds against something
  100. like that occuring are something like a quadrillion to one -- ON ANY ONE
  101. HAND. But given all the bridge hands that have been played since the game
  102. was invented, its bound to occur some time -- as it once did, in champ-
  103. ionship play.

  132. Yes Michael, I know that you suggest that
  133. the events in the Hudson Valley may be
  134. hysteria.  witnesses   that are employed to
  135. guard nuclear power stations, police officers
  136. that guard the community, military personal that
  137. are responsible for the welfare of the nation,
  138. airline pilots, school teachers, scientists
  139. accountants, attorneys, reporters, all these
  140. people suffering mass hysteria over a 4 year
  141. period.  How silly of me, now I wish I had
  142. studied psychology, talk about a ready made
  143. client group, makes my wallet tremble just to
  144. think about it.  I could afford that 1400 LT, 
  145. buy a new stereo, get that washer for my wife,
  146. take those flying lessons, get Michael a new

  161. Mr. Graham, I've been reading with great interest your posts in the UFO
  162. debate section here. You seem to be a master debater -- verbally
  163. speaking.

  165. Yet for all your elocutionary aplomb, you seem to be missing a few vital
  166. points. For example, you state that the "appearance of authenticity is
  167. insufficient." Insufficient for what? For proof? Certainly. To qualify
  168. as bearing discussion and inquiry? Hardly. Why do you and others insist
  169. on painting ufology into the corner of requiring absolute, undeniable
  170. proof before it can be taken seriously? Surely no one here is claiming
  171. to have proof that "UFOs are aliens and the government knows it." All we
  172. are saying is that, A) Anomalous data exists in the form of various
  173. reports which exhibit curious consistency, B) said data SUGGESTS
  174. intelligent control and/or government knowledge of the extraordinary
  175. nature of the phenomenon, C) insufficient prosaic explanations have been
  176. advanced to bring the data in line with the current scientific paradigm,
  177. D) the ET Hypothesis is sufficiently wondrous and substantial in its
  178. potential benefits to merit serious consideration; E) insufficient
  179. theoretical arguments have been advanced against said hypothesis. That's
  180. it. We do NOT say, "AND THEREFORE ITS ALIENS," as you repeatedly accuse Phil
  181. Imbrogno (and by extension, us) of saying. We do say, "AND THEREFORE,
  182. STOP LAUGHING AND HELP US FIND OUT WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!"

  184. None of this is to be construed as an entreatise to cease your skeptical
  185. input. On the contrary, ParaNet will not survive without such input, for
  186. that is our raison d'etre. But we do ask that such input be offered in
  187. an even-handed manner, that is, without the use of straw-man arguments
  188. such as your "and therefore its aliens," or your implication that we are
  189. claiming to have proved our case. Instead of bemoaning the proof we
  190. don't have, try addressing the data we do.
